What are the side effects of Dysport®?

Do I need downtime for the procedure?

  • While no downtime is required, patients should allow for the possibility of mild bruising following their injections

How long does the procedure take?

  • Injections take approximately 15-20 minutes

Is there anything I can do to reduce bruising during my injections?

  • Yes, avoid fish oil, flax seed oil, multivitamins, NSAID’s such as Ibuprofen and alcohol (including beer wine and liquor) at least 48-72 hours before injections

  • Consult with your primary physician if taking aspirin, Coumadin or other blood-thinning medications, these medications increase the risks of bruising and should be stopped 7 days before your injections if possible

  • No, the period the Dysport® is effective as you are not contracting your facial muscles, therefore after the Botox wears off, there are residual benefits and softening of the lines, hence why Botox can also be preventative
